PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that can record image data at high-speed even when recording paper is changed. SOLUTION: A main control section 1 of the communication terminal stores received image data in a coded state to an image memory 11. Then the main control section 1 allows a buffer memory 5 to expand the image data and a recording section 6 to record the image data while decoding. The buffer memory expands the image data in its area whose size is more than a maximum size recordable by the recording section 6 in the case of expanding the image data in the buffer memory 5. Even when paper runs short and the paper in use at the expansion differs from that at the recording, it can be coped with by having only to change the area storing the image data to be transferred to the recording section 6. Since the recording can be made without the need for the decoding and the expansion once again, the image data can be recorded at high-speed.
