STAINLESS STEEL EXCELLENT IN ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERTY AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce BA finished stainless steel excellent in antibacterial properties and corrosion resistance, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: Stainless steel is subjected to BA(bright annealing) treatment and is dipped into a soln. contg. Ag ions of 0.0001 to 1.0 mol/l concn., and the BA film is incorporated with Ag grains and an Ag compd. of 0.0002 to 0.05% by area ratio. The stainless steel preferably contains 0.001 to 0.10 mass % Ag or contains 0.001 to 0.30 mass % V as well.
