<p>The system used a vehicle carrying a powerful laser (Source laser) which is aimed vertically upward at a mirror (Miroir optique). The collimated beam of light (Fasceau optique) is aimed at a point on the ground (Point d'impact) immediately over the mine. Localized heating explodes the mine, generating seismic waves (Ondes sismiques). These waves are detected by a buried microphone (Capteur sismique). The signal is fed to a computer (Traitement du signal), which is used for the preparation of a map (Cartographie) showing the location of the exploded mines.</p> |
