PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric transformer having a high-voltage boosting/ step-down ratio which is less affected by spuriousness due to unnecessary vibration. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric transformer is equipped with a 1st piezoelectric substrate 1, which is formed into a rectangular-plate shape and polarized along the length by forming electrodes on both the lengthwise end surfaces and 2nd piezoelectric substrates 2a and 2b, which are in the same plan-view shape with the 1st piezoelectric substrate 1 and polarized along the thickness by forming electrodes on both the main surfaces. In this case, the 2nd piezoelectric substrates 2a and 2b are stacked on the top and reverse of the 1st piezoelectric substrate 1 across low-dielectric-constant substrates 3a and 3b in the same plan-view shape with those piezoelectric substrates. Then one of the piezoelectric substrate 1 and 2nd piezoelectric substrates 2a and 2b functions as a drive part, the other as a power generation part, and the low-dielectric-constant substrates as insulating layers.
