PURPOSE: A method for selecting the dispersion of a vocoder of a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) MSC(Mobile Switching Center) for preventing a system overload is provided to prevent the system overload because the selection of the vocoder is overemphasized to a shelf and a slot. CONSTITUTION: When initializing a system, initial values of a shelf number, a slot number, and a vocoder number are designated so that current values of a vocoder, a shelf, and a slot are not larger than values of a maximum vocoder, a maximum shelf, and a maximum slot(S1). The determined shelf value is increased by 1 while the shelf value is not larger than the maximum shelf, the slot value is increased by 1 while the slot value is not larger than the maximum slot whenever one loop performance is ended and the vocoder value is increased by 1 while the vocoder value is not larger than the maximum vocoder whenever one loop performance is ended(S2). States of the shelf, the slot, and the vocoder are grasped to be selected(S3). It is judged whether a frame-offset value is identical to a previous frame-offset value. If the frame-offset value is not identical to the previous frame-offset value, the frame-offset value is selected(S4).
