PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of color drift in a color cathode-ray tube by preventing warpage generation in the boundary part between the porous region and half-etching region of a stretching shadow mask. SOLUTION: A plate 1 for shadow mask is furnished with a porous region 11 provided in the central part with a number of through-holes 101, half-etching regions 12 consisting of a number of half etches 122 positioned outside the short edge members of the porous region 11, and nonporous regions 13 positioned outside the longer edge members of the porous region 11, and is stretched with tension given to the shorter edge member direction. The degree of etching permeation in the half-etching region 12 becomes shallower from the porous region side end part, gradually toward he outside in the long edge member direction.
