PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject emulsifier which is useful for silver halide photographic photosensitive materials that adsorb sensitizing dyes in many layers, has high sensitivity and scarcely develops an aftercolor, by including a specific sensitizing dye. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic emulsifier contains at least one of compounds of formula I [A1 is an atom group necessary for forming a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring; L1 and L2 are each methine group; (p1) is 0 or 1; M1 is a charge-balanced counterion; (m1) is the number needed for neutralizing the electric charge of the molecule; Q is a group needed for forming a methine dye; G1 to G3 are each a bonding group; X1 is a bonding group containing a heterogeneous atom; A1 is H or a monovalent substituent; (s) and (u) are each >=k0; (t) is >=2]. The compound of formula I includes a compound obtained, for example, by reacting the reaction product of a compound of formula II with phenol with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride, reacting the obtained compound of formula III with 2-methynaphth[2,3-d]oxazole, and then reacting the reaction product with triethyl orthopropionate.
