PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open and close upper and lower containers without using a hand by providing a pedal for opening and closing the lower container in addition to a pedal for opening and closing a cover of an upper container body in vertically two-stage refuse container. SOLUTION: This refuse container is formed so that a pedal 7 is provided at the front of a lower container body 3 pivoted on a base frame F, and a bearing part is provided at the bottom part rear surface of the container. The bearing part is supported on a pivot shaft provided on the base frame F. By the depressing operation of the pedal 7, the lower container body 3 closed by the base frame and the lower part of the upper container body 3 is tilted forward to move an upper part front edge 3" toward this side so as to open the edge to allow refuse to be put in.
