PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of holding a paper support member in an approximately constant position and stably feeding paper, without causing twisting, etc. of the load shaft of a push-up mechanism which raises and lowers the paper support member by preventing chipping, etc. of a gear which transmits a driving force between the drive shaft and the load shaft of the push-up mechanism, even if the paper feeder is designed to move in and out in the direction in which paper travels. SOLUTION: A drive means for raising a paper support member is attached to a paper feed cassette.
