PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input system prepared for portable information equipment and enabling a user to easily and quickly input data by his (or her) hand as a keyboard having a large display screen and allowed to be attached to a mouse, as to compact information equipment having a character input function. SOLUTION: Five character input keys are arranged on the side face of a casing, a surface space is secured for a display screen and a mouse position ball, characters are allocated to the combinations of ON/OFF states of five keys at optimum while considering the operation capacity of the five fingers and the using frequency of characters. Thus the one-hand input keyboard signal capable of easily and quickly inputting a document or the like can be provided.
