A small diameter spur gear transmits a rotary motion from a first shaft (1) to a second shaft (8). The arrangement has a first pair of gear wheels (2,3) with a set of identical teeth (4), intermeshing with a second set of gear wheels (5,6) with a set of identical teeth (7). The teeth in the first drive wheel (2) are fixed in line with the mid-point (half pitch interval) between the peaks of the adjacent gear wheel (3).
