PURPOSE: An apparatus for executing switching by the VC(Virtual Container) on an SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) is provided to carry out switching by the VC by minimizing the generation of a jitter and making alignment to an identical time slot of a J1 time unnecessary. CONSTITUTION: An STM-1(Synchronous Transport Module-level 1)/VC demapper part(31) extracts 3 STS-1(Synchronous Transport Signal-level 1) frames through the analysis of an input STM-1 frame and transmits actual VC data to a memory part(33) after interpreting a TU pointer from each of the extracted STS-1 frames. A VC/STM-1 mapper part(32) receives the VC data stored in the memory part(33) and transmits them to the STM-1 after mapping. The memory part(33) stores the VC data of the STM-1/VC demapper part(31). A line VC demapper part(36) receives the VC data of the memory part(33) and transmits them to a line after demapping. A line VC mapper part(37) maps the VC data on the line and transmits them to the memory part(33).
