The surveillance method detects an identification code provided by a signal generator attached to each person or mobile object within a secure area (S), for initiating a warning signal indicating an unauthorized entry or exit to the surveillance area. The warning signal is suppressed upon simultaneous reception of a signal from a second signal generator, provided when the entry or exit is authorized. An Independent claim for a device for detecting entry to or exit from a secure area is also included.
