PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nail varnish developing color reversibly changeable according to the kind of external light source and exhibiting a wide color variation range. SOLUTION: The objective nail varnish having reversibly changeable color is produced by mixing a film-forming resin with ultrafine particles of a rare earth metal oxide expressed by M2O3 (M is Ho, Nd or Pr) having an average particle diameter of 5-200 nm and optionally other coloring agent.
