PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a CD quickly without reading TOC information out of the CD, if there is no CD-TEXT recorded on the CD just having been inserted. SOLUTION: A CD-reproducing device is equipped with a memory back-up RAM 42 and a control circuit 4 which stores the RAM 42 with TOC information other than the CD-TEXT and the presence/absence state of the CD-TEXT, and the control circuit 4 will reproduce a program area by reading at least the CD-TEXT out of the CD, when the CD-TEXT presence/absence state in the RAM 42 indicates presence at the start of reproduction and will reproduce program area without reading information out of a lead-in area, when the CD-TEXT presence/absence state in the RAM 42 indicates absence.
