PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document reader capable of easily electrically connecting a document cover and a document reader main body just by attaching the hinge of the document cover to the attaching body of the document reader main body without using a connector or the like. SOLUTION: The document cover 3 equipped with a document feeder is provided in a copying machine main body so as to be freely opened/closed by the hinge 2, and a hinge side electrode 12 is provided on the attaching part 2a of the hinge 2, and then a main body side electrode 11 abutting on and connected to the hinge side electrode 12 on the attaching part 2a when the attaching part 2a is attached is provided on the attaching body 11 having a recessed part 10a in which the attaching part 2a provided in the copying machine main body is inserted.
