PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and also small image signal processor capable of generating an appropriate image signal with respect to various originals. SOLUTION: This image signal processor has a line sensor including photoelectric transducers in a one-dimensional array which generate a color image signal by continuously scanning an original and performing photoelectric conversion, a deciding means 6 for deciding the type of the original on the basis of the balance of the color image signal generated by the line sensor, a charge accumulation time controlling means 6 for controlling the charge accumulation time of the photoelectric transducers in each color in accordance with the type of the original, line buffers 7 and 9 for buffering image signals, and a balancing means 8 and 10 for performing balancing processing between lines about the image signal of a prescribed color on the basis of the image signal buffered in accordance with the type of the original and the image signal generated by the line sensor.
