摘要 <p>A surface acoustic wave device capable of going broad-band and being downsized, and being lowered in loss by using natural, single-phase, unidirectional converter characteristics. The surface acoustic wave device comprises a piezoelectric substrate (1) and a pair of interdigital electrodes (2) provided on one main surface of the piezoelectric substrate (1). The material of the piezoelectric substrate (1) uses a single crystal that belongs to point group 32, has a Ca3Ga2Ge4O14 type crystal structure, has main components consisting of La, Ta, Ga and O, and is represented by a formula La3Ta0.5Ga5.5O14. When a slitting angle and a propagation direction of the substrate (1) are represented as (Ζ, χ, γ) in an Eulerian angle representation, Ζ, υ and γ exist in a first region where Ζ= -5° to 5°, χ= 135° to 155° and γ= 15° to 40°, or in a second region where Ζ=10° to 20°, χ= 140° to 157° and γ= 30° to 60°.</p>
