PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a picture display device which can be formed on the same substrate with a pixel circuit, which is capable of achieving high density and high integration and high speed operation and also whose cost is low. SOLUTION: This device is made to be a picture display device having constitution which has thin film display elements ELs(electroluminescences) which are disposed in a matrix shape and which are driven with currents and a selecting means 2 for selecting respective thin film display elements ELs and in which the fundamental structural unit of, at least, the selecting means 2 is constituted of N-type enhancement type and depletion type switching elements or P-type enhancement type and depletion type switching elements.
