Testing method and apparatus

Apparatus for testing an alarm sensor includes a receiver, means for modifying a signal received by the receiver to simulate a "moving target" return signal, means for varying the power of the modified signal, a transmitter for transmitting the modified signal to the sensor, and means for detecting a signal output by the alarm sensor. The sensor is mounted on an opposite side of an anechoic chamber to the transmitter and the receiver. The apparatus includes a controller to reduce the attenuation of an attenuator, forming part of the power varying means, from a high level until the modified signal received by the alarm sensor is large enough to trigger an output signal. <IMAGE>
