PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the spin valve type thin film magnetic element capable of reducing asymmetry (Asymmetry). SOLUTION: In the spin valve type thin film magnetic element 11, the first and the second fixed magnetic layers 21 and 51 are disposed at the both sides of the thickness direction of a free magnetic layer 41, the free magnetic layer 41 consists of the first and the second ferromagnetic free layers 42 and 43, and the entire part is in a ferromagnetic state, the first fixed magnetic layer 21 consists of the first and the second ferromagnetic pinned layers 22 and 23, and the entire part is in the ferromagnetic state, the second fixed magnetic layer 51 consists of the third and the fourth ferromagnetic pinned layers 52 and 53, and the entire part is in the ferromagnetic state, and the magnetizing direction of the second ferromagnetic pinned layer 23 close to the free magnetic layer 41 and the magnetizing direction of the ferromagnetic third pinned layer 52 close to the free magnetic layer 41 are anti-parallel.
