PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the frequency of operations of an electromagnetic brake installed in the interior of a turning motor of a grain discharging auger of an apparatus for conveying grains and raise the durability of the turning motor. SOLUTION: This apparatus for conveying grains is obtained by installing hysteresis between the car speed for operating a brake and the car speed for opening the brake in the apparatus for conveying the grains equipped with the brake for controlling the turning of a freely turnable auger 10 when the car speed reaches a constant value or above. Since a large load is applied to the brake to cause trouble if the brake for the auger 10 is still operated when the car speed is accelerated, the turning control of the auger 10 for opening the brake for the auger 10 is carried out when the car speed reaches the constant value or above. The hysteresis is provided between the case speed for opening the brake and the car speed for operating the brake to thereby repeat on-off of the brake near the constant value of the car speed of the combine harvester. As a result, hunting can be prevented. Even when the combine harvester travels a hillside at a prescribed tilt angle or above, the hysteresis may be provided for opening and operating the above brake at a prescribed tilt angle.
