PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music box device of a cylinder type including a buffer device which enables even a person, not an experienced workman, to prevent the generation of contact sounds by surely suppressing the vibration of a vibration valve. SOLUTION: This music box device has an engaging pin 9 which is formed to project outward from the peripheral surface of the side wall of a cylinder member 8 of a cylindrical shape and diaphragm 6 having the vibration valve 7 which produces sound by being engaged with this engaging pin 9 and being plucked and a frame 1 which fixes this diaphragm 6 and rotatably supports the cylinder member 8. The buffer device 30, which comes into contact with the vibration valve 7 in order to buffer or suppress the residual vibration of the vibration valve 7 and parts from the vibration valve 7 before the vibration valve 7 is plucked by the engaging pin 9, is fixed to a place exclusive of the vibration valve 7.
