PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fire grate type combustion equipment which is used at the time of incinerating an object to be incinerated, such as the municipal refuse, industrial waste, etc., to be improved in its responsiveness to loads and, at the same time, to reduce the amount of unburnt materials in incineration ash. SOLUTION: This combustion equipment is constituted of a traveling fire grate 2 which is moved from the interior side to this side of the equipment and on which the object A to be incinerated is burnt, a scattering device 3 which is positioned to an upper position on this side of the equipment and evenly scatters the object A on the grate 2, and a stepped fire grate 4 which is provided on this side of the grate 2 and on which the unburnt materials from the grate 2 are burnt.
