<p>A system which performs the function of monitoring and/or controlling a device, communicates with the Internet using Internet protocols, and is able to serve a web page or communicate with a server over the Internet to allow remote control of the device. The system can include an Internet node comprising a microcontroller (20) programmed to communicate with the Internet and serve a web page to a browser. A second microcontroller (30), is programmed to control an appliance and the two microcontrollers (20, 30) communicate with each other on an internal bus (38). An Internet gate is provided to control connections between one or more Internet nodes, serving one or more appliances, and the Internet. The Internet gate includes a microcontroller to control communications between a plurality of Internet nodes and the Internet gate and between the Internet gate and the Internet.</p> |
