PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure characteristic values, such as pitch deviations and radius deviations, of male screws fixed uprightly on a rotary table and screw holes in a measured object placed on the rotary table. SOLUTION: Constant gauge head direction control, constant rotary table radius tracer control, and two-surface contact tracer control are combined together into V-groove rotary table tracer control, which is performed so as to keep, at all times, a gauge head 24 of a copying probe 22 in contact with two surfaces that form a V-groove of the measured object.
