PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital signal encoder that attains encoding using a simple processing. SOLUTION: An RS code storage section 5 stores in advance a code, corresponding to a prescribed information symbol. Upon the receipt of external code unit data being an object of encoding from a data division processing section 3, an RS encoding processing section 4 detects whether the prescribed information symbols are consecutive by the number of symbols being a unit for code addition. The RS encoding processing section 4 reads the code stored in the RS code storage section 5 and adds it to the information symbol, to encode the data when the prescribed information symbols are consecutive for the number of symbols. The RS encoding processing section 4 obtains the code through calculation and adds it to the information symbol to encode the data, when the prescribed information symbols are not consecutive for the number of symbols.
