PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the running stability of a carriage by preventing looseness of a ribbon holder to a ribbon cassette. SOLUTION: In a printer 10, in which the recording wires of a recording head 18 loaded on a carriage 19 are projected towards an ink ribbon 31 delivered from a ribbon cassette 40 during the running of the carriage so as to record an image on a sheet, which is carried to the back surface side of the ink ribbon and a ribbon holder 38, which holds the ink ribbon widthwise (or to the direction indicated with the arrow B), is shiftably provided along the longitudinal direction (or along the direction indicated with the arrow A) of the ribbon cassette extending to the running direction of the carriage (or to the direction indicated with the arrow A), ribs 39, which hold the ribbon holder to its shifting direction (or to the direction indicated with the arrow A), are installed in the carriage.
