PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a leukocyte removing filter medium for removing leukocytes selectively and efficiently from a whole blood preparation including erythrocytes, platelets, plasma components and leukocytes while reducing the loss of erythrocytes, platelets and plasma components to a very low level. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a filter medium for selectively removing leukocytes is characterized by the treatment of a filter medium having a nonionic hydrophilic group and a basic functional group on the surface with an aqueous solution of at least 20 deg.C and lower than 120 deg.C.
