PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a false twisted coated elastic yarn having much more improved coating properties of sheath part and reduced occurrence of the phenomenon of exposure of a polyurethane elastic yarn on a polyamide multifilament false twist yarn and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This false twisted coated elastic yarn has a twistless coating structure obtained by coating the circumference of a polyurethane elastic yarn 1 with a polyamide multifilament false twist yarn 2 in a substantially twistless manner and is composed of a double structure of an inner layer A in which the polyamide multifilament false twist yarn 1 is directly interlaced with the polyurethane elastic yarn and an outer layer B surrounding the outside of the inner layer A. This method for producing the false twisted coated elastic yarn comprises, in reeling the polyurethane elastic yarn, drafting the polyurethane elastic yarn dividedly in at least two stages, arranging the polyurethane elastic yarn in parallel with the polyamide multifilament yarn, doubling the yarns and subjecting the doubled yarn to false twisting.
