PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accommodate trash about five times more in a trash bag more when trash is naturally put into the trash bag having the same volume by compressing the bulky trash cut by a shredder in the trash bag and keeping the compressed state as it is so that the trash stored in the trash bag does not swell out even when the compressed state is released. SOLUTION: This trash compressing device has a trash bag holding part 3 to which the trash bag 21 for storing the trash 32 is fit in such a state that the opening part 21a of the bag 21 is kept to open upward, a pressurizing part 2 to which an opening/closing body 15 which is driven by a driving device, moved vertically along a guiding member, opened at the upper standby position so that the trash 32 can be thrown into the bag 21 and closed when it is lowered, is fit and which pressurizes and compresses the trash 32 thrown into the bag 21 to reduce the volume of the trash 32 when the body 15 is lowered and a swingingly opening/closing trash receiving tray part which is disposed between the part 2 and a port for discharging the trash cut by the shredder 100 for storing the trash 32 temporarily.
