PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the accurate potting work while preventing the generation of missing plant in the potting work comprising the transplantation of a seedling in a raising seedling tray on a seedling transfer line to a transplantation tray on a transplantation transfer line. SOLUTION: A seedling 43 taken out of a raising seedling tray 1 on a seedling transfer line 5 with a transplantation claw 7 is moved to the transplantation tray 3 on a transplantation transfer line 6 and transplanted. In the above potting apparatus, the seedling 43 is detected by a photoelectric seedling sensor 51 projecting a detection light beam in a direction perpendicularly crossing the transfer direction of the transplantation claw 7.
