PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposer which realizes the shortening of the time for processing garbage and is easy to handle and saving energy. SOLUTION: This garbage disposer comprises a storage container 35 for storing the garbage, a heating means 37 for heating the garbage, a stirring blade 36 for stirring the garbage and a temperature sensor 32 which is a water vapor generation amount detecting means. The stand-by time up to the start of a stirring action by the stirring blade 36 is made variable in compliance with the water vapor generation amount during the early stage of the operation. Thus time for processing the garbage is cut short and the insufficient drying of the garbage is prevented from occurring in accordance with the water vapor amount generated from the loaded garbage.
