PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic instrument such as an ultrasonograph, or the like, in which an observing section such as an ultrasonic endoscope, or the like, can be attached and detached regardless of whether power is on or off. SOLUTION: A connector 7 of an ultrasonic endoscope 2 containing an ultrasonic vibrator can be attached/detached on/from a connector accepting part 8 of an ultrasonic image observing instrument 3. In order to attach/detach the ultrasonic endoscope 2 without disturbance when a power supply switch 29 connected to a power supply circuit 28 is turned on, a sub power supply switch 37 for turning on/off the power supplied to an ultrasonic endoscope 2 side and to a transmission/reception part 13 of an ultrasonic image observing instrument 3 side being directly connected to the ultrasonic endoscope 2 side is provided in a power supply line 31 of a power supply circuit 28. The ultrasonic endoscope 2 can be attached/detached while the sub power supply switch 37 is off.
