PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting element and a semiconductor light emitting device capable of reducing noise by reducing the return light of a laser beam affecting an oscillating state. SOLUTION: This semiconductor light emitting element for emitting a laser beam is provided with a semiconductor laminated body 10 including a laminated body constituted of at least a first conductive type first clad layer, an active layer and a second conductive type second clad layer; a first electrode 20 formed on the surface of the first clad layer side semiconductor laminated body 10; and a second electrode 21 formed on the surface of the second clad layer side semiconductor laminated body 10. The first electrode 20 is formed on the surface of the semiconductor laminated body 10 other than a part S on which a return light Lb of the laser beam is butted.
