PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a confidential communication method for a facsimile terminal that can avoid an image memory at a receiver station side from being overflowed due to confidential reception data. SOLUTION: A transmission station stores confidential transmission data to a confidential box of itself and transmits confidential transmission station information consisting of a FAX number of the transmission station and only a box number of the confidential box of the transmission station to a reception station. Upon the receipt of the confidential transmission station information sent from the transmission station, the reception station stores the received confidential transmission station information to a confidential box of itself, and when a user applies a confidential reception data output operation to the reception station, the reception station makes a call to the transmission station on the basis of the confidential transmission station information in the confidential box of the reception station so as to conduct automatic polling communication where a box number of the confidential box of the transmission station is designated.
