PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to retain page data even in the case that printing is interrupted by paper jam, etc., or data transfer load fluctuation in a general- purpose bus, etc., occurs. SOLUTION: In a printer system comprising a print engine interface connected to a personal computer as a printer controller and a general-purpose bus for peripheral equipment and a print engine containing a paper discharge detector, the print engine interface, which is not related to data load of the general-purpose bus, is equipped with plural page buffers to retain plural page data. In printing, a page buffer receiving a signal from the paper discharge detector indicating the corresponding printed paper has been discharged is cleared off, but the others of undischarged papers still retain page data, respectively.
