PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately test the transverse strength of a tablet-like sample. SOLUTION: In a sample table 8, for holding a tablet-like sample to be tested at a load axis position, a fulcrum block 22 having two projections to be fulcrum is fixed into an outer frame 21, and a sample frame 23 having sample inserting holes into which the sample is inserted is disposed on the fulcrum block 22 slidably vertically to a paper surface with respect to the fulcrum block 22. The plurality of sample inserting holes are formed so as to fit to various sample shapes. Positioning holes are formed adjacent to the sample inserting holes, and engage with a ball 24 provided on the outer frame to position the centers of the sample inserting holes to fit to a load axis 27. The sample S inserted into the sample inserting holes is loaded by a punch 7 from the upside, and applied with three-point bending load by two projections of the fulcrum block 22 and the punch. A load value when the sample snaps is determined as transverse strength.
