PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material for conveyor belt used for a high temperature continuous furnace which can be used for a long period of time at a high temperature of 1200 deg.C or more, and provide the high temperature furnace using the material. SOLUTION: A material (1) for a conveyor belt, which consists of a narrow piece of carbon fiber fabric (11) and a heat resistant oxide layer (12) formed on the surface of the fabric by spraying, is used. The high temperature furnace has a tunnel-like inner cross section with the lining of refractories (31) and consists of a furnace body (3) provided with a heating means (4), an endless belt type conveying belt (2) made of a heat resistant material and moves in the tunnel, a tray (5) disposed under the conveying belt in the tunnel and supports the belt, a pair of rolls (6) for defining the positions of both ends of the endless belt and driving the conveyor belt, and a rotary drive means for the rolls.
