PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor capable of realizing 'a processing to perform insertion and extraction of data to a prescribed byte position on a register' at high speed and in short size of instruction codes. SOLUTION: The data processor is constituted so that a specified bit area of source data (the register of a multipurpose register file 206 or a memory 104) is inserted into a specified bit area (an area to be determined by a value of an operation code part 4014) on a destination register from a decoding result of an instruction code to be constituted of operation code parts 4011, 4014, a source operand specifying part 4012 and a destination operand specifying part 4015, a specified bit area (an area to be determined by a value of the operation code part 4011) on a source register is extracted and the extracted bit area is stored in a specified bit area of destination (the register of the multipurpose register file 206 or the memory 104).
