摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine by rapidly discharging energy by a residual magnetic flux by which the occurrence of damping vibration during winding of the coils on the secondary side and on the primary side of an ignition coil is caused. SOLUTION: A current with which a coil 1a on the primary side of an ignition coil 1 of an ignition device is charged is cut off and by relative induction operation between the primary side of the ignition coil 1 and coils 1a and 1b on the secondary side, a high voltage is generated at the coil 1b on the secondary side. The high voltage is applied on an ignition plug 3 to generate discharge, and by sparks generated in this case, air-fuel mixture compressed in a cylinder is ignited. In a method for igniting the ignition coil described above, energy is generated by a residual magnetic flux by which the occurrence of damping vibration during winding of the coils 1b and 1a on the secondary side and the primary side is caused, the energy being discharged.
