PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of an article incorporating a bearing device 1a by providing a structure which can be easily assembled to a support shaft even by a maker who does not own a special device for applying desired prestresses. SOLUTION: A pair of outer rings 10a and 10a have their respective axial inner end faces butted against each other. A pair of inner rings 8 and 8 are pressed in a direction to approach each other with a gap 18 intervening between the inner rings 8 and 8, so that the inner rings are fitted around the mid portion of a cylindrical sleeve 12 and fixed thereto, with the desired prestresses applied to the inner rings. When the bearing device 1a is assembled to the support shaft, no special device for applying desired prestresses is employed and the sleeve 12 is fitted over the support shaft and fixed thereto by an interference fit or the like providing a slight interference.
