PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to manage software of a client efficiently by the use of an image file. SOLUTION: An image file containing partition information and compressed data made by compression of data recorded in a hard disk of each client 2 is given to a connection with a client 2 and saved at prescribed storage location of a server 1. When necessary, the above image file is sent to the connected client 2 and the image file generation time environment is restored in the hard disk of connected client 2 based on the image file. The generated image file can be either uploaded by client 2 or collected by server 1 via polling. Otherwise, the image file can also be created and registered at detailed storage location specified at the time of generation of an image file.
