PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a portable information terminal thin and small-sized in a small structure at low cost and to secure superior reception sensitivity and reception performance with superior stability. SOLUTION: The portable information terminal 1 is equipped with an equipment body 2 which has a liquid crystal display part 5 on the top surface and a lid 4, which is coupled turnably with the front end side of the equipment body 2 and covers a data display part 5 of the equipment body 2 by a turning in the closing direction; and the lid 4 contains a circuit board 58 mounted with a planar antenna 60, an amplifier 61, and a receiver 62 for satellite communication, so that the mount surface faces the liquid crystal display part 5 when the lid 4 is fully closed; and the receiver 62, planar antenna 60, and amplifier 61 are arranged in order from the end of the lid 4 on the side of a rotary shaft 3 to the tip side, and a ground layer G, which functions as a ground plate is provided nearly over the entire area of the opposite surface of the circuit board 58 from the mount surface.
