PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head having a simple structure and a good contact characteristic, the recording/reproducing method for a tape magnetic recording medium, and a rotary magnetic head. SOLUTION: In a window part WD recessed on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical rotary drum DR on which a magnetic tape MT is wound, a flat head FH1 having a width smaller than the width of the window WD in the advancing direction is loaded so as to form gap-like channels Ch11 and Ch21 between both ends of front and rear parts and both ends of the window part WD. In the flat head FH1, a smooth flat surface PL1 exposed for fluidic interference by opposing to the magnetic tape MT is provided in a position orthogonal to the diameter direction of the rotary drum DR and recessed from the outer peripheral surface, and a head element HE1 brought into contact with the magnetic tape MT to make magnetic interference is disposed in the range of the contact where the magnetic tape MT comes in contact with the smooth flat surface PL1.
