PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine dot parameter values such that generation of moire fringes can be avoided. SOLUTION: The dot parameter value determining apparatus 100 comprises a section 30 for selecting temporary dot parameter values among candidate dot parameter values stored at a candidate parameter storing section 20, a section 40 for calculating moire based on selected dot parameters, a section 50 for making a decision whether calculated moire falls within an allowable level or not, and a section 60 for employing the temporary dot parameter values as definite values if the moire falls within the allowable level wherein the candidate parameter selecting section 30 selects new temporary dot parameter values if the moire deviates from the allowable level.
