PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture read device capable of preventing damage due to static electricity or mechanical damage at the time of attaching and detaching a cordless hand scanner. SOLUTION: In this facsimile equipment 21 having a cordless hand scanner 23, a facsimile equipment main body 22 is provided with a control lever 51 so that it is possible for an operator to easily detach the hand scanner 23 from the facsimile equipment main body 22 by operating the control lever 51. At the time of mounting the hand scanner 32 on the facsimile equipment 22, static electricity charged in the hand scanner 23 can be removed by a conducting part 58 when the hand scanner 23 is placed on the control lever 51.
