PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to photodetect infrared rays from the depth of an external auditory canal since the drum membranes of few people can be seen directly from the side of auricles because the shape of the external auditory canal is largely curved in an S-shape. SOLUTION: This clinic thermometer has a main body 1 having an infrared sensor 22 for detecting infrared rays, a signal processing means 24 for measuring body temperature with a signal from the sensor 22 and a display part 4 for displaying the body temperature, and a probe 2 disposed at the main body 1 to be inserted to an ear for guiding the infrared ray emitted from a human body to the infrared sensor. The probe 2 is provided with a bulging part 3 to push the auricle backward to straighten the curve of the external auditory meatus. As a result, the tip of the probe 2 is directed toward the drum membranes and the body temperature can precisely be measured by only a single hand.
