PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium wherein the color of a back substrate and the color of a spacer are not conspicuous and visibility can be enhanced. SOLUTION: In the image display medium 21, a transparent display substrate 10 and the back substrate 11 are disposed opposite to each other via a spacer 12 onto which resin 16 is applied and first particles 13 and second particles 14 are encapsulated in a space between the display substrate 10 and the back substrate 11. The display substrate 10 is constituted of a transparent substrate 10a, a transparent electrode 10b and a dielectric film 10c that are laminated. The back substrate 11 is constituted of a substrate 11a, an electrode 11b and a dielectric film 11c that are laminated. The dielectric film 11c is colored in a black color as same as the color of the second particles 14. Thereby, the dielectric film 11c is prevented from being conspicuous. Thus, the image display medium natural, easy to be seen and high in contrast can be obtained.
