PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature-measuring apparatus and method providing proper responsiveness to temperature measurements and discernability of disconnections, while also enabling one to readily find that the highest temperature has been reached. SOLUTION: The temperature-measuring method, for use with the temperature measuring apparatus 20, which measures the temperature of a subject to be measured using a thermocouple 21, includes measuring the value of the thermo- electromotive force of the thermocouple 21 at certain time intervals, using as an inclination k as a change in the value of the thermo-electromotive force from the time, when a certain temperature measurement is made when the next temperature measurement is to be made immediately after that; converting the measured value of thermo-electromotive force into a temperature by use of a corresponding thermo-electromotive force map; taking as the measured temperature, when the inclination k is within a predetermined range is the highest temperature of the subject; and then providing a display or sounding an alarm, to indicate that the highest temperature has been reached.
